Who started PLIM?

Lee E. Warren, B.A., D.D., who had been the dean of the downtown Chicago branch of the Institute of Divine Metaphysical Research (IDMR) for more than 20 years, started PLIM, Inc. in 1992. He graduated cum laude from DePaul in mathematics. He and his wife, Penny, M.A., B.A., D.D., an English major, are the two primary contributors to the "PLIM REPORT" magazine, the "Power Latent in Man" cable television show, and the PLIM Website. Michele Bennett, L.A., D.D. was instrumental in the organization's beginnings. Members of PLIM are former IDMR students, current IDMR students, and just PLIM folk.

Why was PLIM started?

The "PLIM REPORT" bi-monthly magazine was created in response to numerous questions asked by viewers of the "Power Latent in Man" cable television show. It began to air irregularly in December 1990, then became a half hour series in March 1991. Since June 1991, The "Power Latent in Man" show has aired as a one hour series every Wednesday from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Chicago Access Corporation, Channel 36 in Chicago, Illinois. PLIM viewers requested literature on the many topics covered in the show, such as 'Is tithing necessary for blessings?' 'How does one develop faith?' 'What is the purpose of visions?' Written answers to these questions began the "PLIM REPORT" magazine and the establishment of an organization separate from the Institute of Divine Metaphysical Research Inc., that did not have literature on these topics. In 1990, IDMR announced that they did not want any members to write about visions or revelations shown to them in the name of IDMR. (see 7/25/90 letter) Dr. Warren started PLIM to address that need.

How does PLIM differ from the Institute of Divine Metaphysical Research?

The main distinction between the two organizations is depth and level of research. PLIM provides meat; IDMR gives milk. "For every one that useth milk is unskillful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil (Heb. 5:13-14)." Neither does PLIM deify a particular man since we believe that Spirit is universal and omnipresent within every man (Col. 1:26; Lk. 17:20-21). The headquarters of IDMR in Los Angeles, CA has an official web site at
