Introduction

Part One of this article shows that diabetes is a disease that results from the malfunction of the human body’s metabolic system. This is primarily due to lack of an insulin hormone or, for a variety of reasons, the pancreas releasing insufficient amounts of insulin.

The emphasis of Diabetes, Part One was not only to show that the physical disease of diabetes is epidemic in America, but that it is a reflection of a spiritual disease taking place in the soul of mankind.

It is not that a diabetic body has no source of energy. Glucose, the energy of the body, is in the blood, but the cells cannot use it because there is either no insulin or not enough insulin. It is the key for glucose to enter the cells. In other words, it is the mediator.

This is an analogy of what occurs in the spirit. All of mankind lives, moves and has their being in the Spirit of Yahweh (the Lord), as the Apostle Paul says (Acts 17:45), but they are totally inept from a spiritual standpoint. It is the spirit of Yahweh (the Lord) that gives energy to the soul for eternal life and it is the source of physical life.

Mankind has no spiritual power, knowledge, love, etc., because of a lack of faith in the truth (Jn. 8:32) - Yahshua (Jesus) the Messiah.  So faith in the Messiah is the key to manifest the power of Yahweh (the Lord), just as insulin is the key for glucose to enter the cell and convert into energy.

The Messiah told Israel when they prayed, to have faith. He said: “Have faith in Elohim (God),” Yahshua answered. “I tell you the truth, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours (Mk. 11:22-24 see Heb. 11:2)).”

What is the intent of this article?

The focus of this article is to examine both the orthodox and the alternative treatments of diabetes.   Orthodox medicine controls the diagnosis, research, and treatment of diseases in this country through such organizations as the AMA, FDA, etc. This community with all their advanced technology says that there is no cure for diabetes. Thus, drugs are given to treat, not cure, diabetes’ symptoms, such as high blood pressure, nerve damage, etc. In addition, Orthodox medicine does not practice preventive medicine. So the pharmaceutical companies rake in huge profits while the people continue to suffer (Jer. 8:22).

Yet, the irony is that most ancient civilizations for thousands of years have a better track record of treatment of disease than our modern therapies. One of the oldest prescriptions for the treatment of diabetes was described in the Eber’s Egyptian papyrus (3000 - 1500 B.C.) discovered in 1862 (see website:http://www.giveshare.org/Health/medicinehistory/chapter1.html). It advised treating diabetes with high fiber and wheat grains.

In fact, Jean Carper’s book Food Your Miracle Medicine states that many ancient civilizations have used more than 400 plants in the treatment of diabetes. She listed some of the various plants that cultures prescribed for diabetes as following: China uses Ginseng; the Middle East, Asia, and Europe eats onions & garlic.

Other plants used to treat diabetes are cabbage, lettuce, turnips, beans, berries, alfalfa, and juniper. Modern research has proven that these plants are excellent treatment for diabetes without the side effects of drugs.

Diet, along with exercise, will be the focus of this article. It must be remembered that mankind is a creature and cannot improve upon the creator, Elohim (God).

This article will briefly describe the symptoms of Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes and their medical causes. Note to Reader: This medical information on diet for the treatment of diabetes is not intended to be used for diagnosis or treatment. It is to inform the reader of new possibilities that are rarely mentioned in mainstream medicine.

Type 1 diabetes, its symptoms, and causes

Now there are two types of diabetes Type 1 and Type 2. Type 1 is classified as a juvenile disease and called insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (IDDM). What this means is that the person has to take insulin for the pancreas does not secrete any. Type I diabetics accounts for about 10% of all diabetes diagnosed.

Most cases of Type I diabetics are diagnosed in early childhood or adolescence (usually before the age of twenty-five) and as stated requires that a person take insulin their entire life.

Although the exact cause of Type 1 diabetic is not known. There are basically four factors cited for this type of diabetes: environmental factors, autoimmune deficiencies, genetic factors, and diet. Medical researchers recent findings suggest that the immune system dysfunctions, such that it attacks the pancreas destroying its ability to produce insulin. Recent research has indicated that cow milk may be the culprit that causes Type I juvenile diabetes, according to Jean Carper’s book Food Your Miracle Medicine [See website: http://www.rense.com/general4/dia.htm]

The symptoms of diabetes depend on whether a person has Type 1 or 2 diabetes. It is these signs along with medical tests that enable a doctor to determine if the individual has diabetes. A person with Type 1 diabetes, which occurs mostly under the age 30, will have the following symptoms, as listed by Natural Treatment of Diabetes by R.N. Ellsworth.

bullet

Lean body mass

bullet

Little or no natural insulin in bloodstream

bullet

Can experience ketoacidosis. This is where the body is forced to burn fat and protein instead of glucose.

bullet

Excess urination

bullet

Abnormal thirst & hunger

bullet

Fatigue, weakness, irritability, nausea and weight loss

Type 2 diabetes, its symptoms, and causes

Now Type 2 diabetes is usually called non-insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (NIDDM) and occurs in adults. It represents about 95 % of all cases diagnosed.

Recent studies have shown that there is a high correlation between the increase in fast foods over the last 30 years and the increase in new diagnosed cases of diabetes. [see website; http://www.rense.com/general3/TYPE2.htm] Processed foods have high fat and starch content and have no fiber. Thus, the pancreas is just plain overworked and worn out, as the result of a diet that demands tremendous amounts of insulin.

Other factors of risk for Type 2 diabetes, as listed by Natural Treatment of Diabetes by R.N. Ellsworth, are:

bullet

Aging

bullet

Obesity

bullet

Family history of diabetes,

bullet

Prior history of gestational diabetes,

bullet

Poor diet resulting in impaired glucose tolerance,

bullet

Lack of exercise and race/ethnicity

Now the characteristics or symptoms of Type 2 diabetes are as follows, as listed by Natural Treatment of Diabetes by R.N. Ellsworth.

bullet

Gradual onset with it manifest in older age (usually after age 40)

bullet

Overweight individuals

bullet

Insulin in blood below normal or high

bullet

Insulin resistance

bullet

Frequent urination

bullet

Abnormal Thirst & Hunger

bullet

Fatigue

bullet

Others symptoms: Dry skin, skin infections, slow healing, blurred vision, itching feet

 Treatment

In order to treat any disease, man has to realize that the Spirit of Elohim within is the source of healing and the body’s regeneration power. Now Dr. Harold J. Reilly and Ruth Brod wrote in their book The Edgar Cayce Handbook for Health Through Drugless Therapy the following concerning a reading of Cayce. “All healing comes from the Divine within …Thus if one would correct the physical or the mental disturbances, it is necessary to change the attitude and let the life forces becomes constructive and not destructive. Hate, malice, and jealousy only create poisons within the mind, souls, and bodies of people (p, 28).”

The book Natural Treatment of Diabetes by R.N. Ellsworth p. 14 states: “… You must regulate what you eat so that you can maintain appropriate glucose levels—and that takes some planning. Eat small, light meals frequently throughout the day that are high in complex carbohydrates and protein, low in fat and with plenty of fiber, fresh vegetable juices and raw fruits and vegetables. This diet reduces the need for insulin and lowers the level of fats in the blood. …”

Physical exercise along with diet seems to work wonders. The book Natural Treatments for Diabetes quotes a UCLA study (p. 16), which put participants not only on a low fat diet, but also required they take brisk 45 minute walks each day. The result showed they had substantially lower blood sugar levels then those on only a diabetes diet. Japanese researchers also substantiated this.

 What diet prevents diabetes?

There are innumerable plants that can aid the body in curing Type 2 diabetes and in the case of Type 1 diabetes, plants not only regulate the body sugar (glucose), but it can reduce the insulin needed.

When Elohim created man’s physical body, He designed it to eat plants. Elohim told Adam and Eve: “I have given you every herb that yields seed which is on the face of all the earth, and every tree whose fruit yields seed; to you it shall be for food (Gen 1:29-30 New KJV).” The scriptures state that plants are not only food, but they are also medicine (Ezk. 47:12).

Now to prevent the onset of diabetes, a plant-based diet has proven itself for thousand of years. Recently in the last fifty years modern medical research has verified this.

A diet containing fish, legumes (beans), nuts, and high chromium food, such as broccoli, drastically reduces ones chances of becoming diabetic. Chromium is a trace mineral that regulates the blood sugar, reducing the need for insulin and medication.

Reducing the intake of fats makes the insulin/glucose relationship more efficient. Reduction of excess weight is a crucial factor in being diabetes.

Medical researchers recommend a diet for diabetes that is high in fiber, high in carbohydrates, whole grain bread, pastas, oats and legumes (i.e. beans).  Now legumes are low in sugar.

Onions – A blood sugar regulator

Medical researchers have proven that one of the plants of the lily family, the onion, is an excellent regulator of the blood sugar glucose. The Food Your Miracle Medicine book said in 1923 and 1960 researchers were able to extract the active ingredients that depress blood-sugars. They found these compounds (allicin and ally propyl disulfide) to be similar to the prescription drug Tolbutamide (Orinase). In rabbits, the onion extract was 78% as effective as the prescription drug Tolbutamide.

Quoting Healing Foods from the Bible confirms this. “Onions and onion extracts also may be effective in controlling diabetes by blocking sudden increases in blood sugar. In fact, two separate studies reported that the onions extract was about 77% more effective at lowering the blood sugar in test animals than some of the drugs commonly prescribed for the treatment of diabetes (p. 81-82).”

Broccoli

As stated earlier, broccoli is an excellent source of chromium, a trace mineral. Other foods that are high in chromium are nuts, whole grains, and brewer yeast. Broccoli helps regulate low blood sugar for Type II and borderline Type II.

Dr. Richard Anderson, Ph.D., at the US Department of Agriculture’s Human Nutrition Research Center at Beltsville, Maryland, blames the increased incident of diabetes on insufficient chromium in the Americans diet. He found that the chemical property chromium attaches to insulin, and increases it 100 times by the oxidation of glucose into carbon dioxide, as stated in the book Food Your Miracle Medicine.

The Book of Health by Susan Stockton tells us the importance of chromium in the metabolism. “Chromium is also needed to metabolize the blood sugar. It works with insulin, facilitating the entry of glucose into the cells. Without chromium the tissues become insensitive to insulin. The lower the total body chromium level gets, the worse the glucose metabolism functiosn. White sugar in the diet contributes to the loss of chromium from the body consequently causing deficiency (p. 131).”

Does a bean diet help regulate diabetes?

Bean diets have been shown to be an excellent treatment for they are high in carbohydrates and a high fiber food. Quoting from the Healing Foods from the Bible, it describe the property of beans. “They are important to diabetics because of their ability to regulate insulin output. One group of Type 1 diabetic (those that requires daily insulin injections) cut back on their need of insulin by as much as 38% when put on bean rich diet. Meanwhile those with Type II diabetics … in that same study were able to stop injection entirely (p. 24).”

The power of beans cannot be over emphasized on their ability to correct various maladies in the body. For example, the book Healing Foods from the Bible by Bernard Ward points out how beans slows the production of the bad cholesterol LDL. “Scientists tell us that during the digestive process, certain chemicals contained in beans and other legumes are released. They, in effect, slow down the liver’s production of that dangerous LDL cholesterol (p. 23).” These same chemicals help clean up the bad cholesterol that clog the arteries. Beans prevent heart diseases and also help reduce cancers (breasts and colon cancer) and intestinal disorders.

Prognosis

Diabetics will wreak havoc on the human body or temple of those without treatment that do not follow sound medical advice. This is an insidious disease and it works silently for years. Since there is no bleeding or trauma, people afflicted with diabetes do not take it seriously nor understand the effects upon the body. Thus, they do not take the needed precaution, such as proper dieting and exercising. They eat what they want, such as white sugars, starches, alcohol, etc., that further exacerbates the problem.

Diabetes creates a myriad of diseases in the human temple and it is the sixth leading cause of death among Americans. Diabetes has been documented to cause blindness, nerve damage, kidney failure resulting in the use of dialysis, high blood pressure, amputations of various limbs, and heart disease.

 Technology is no cure

It should be understood that man’s technology will not cure diabetes. Using the knowledge of DNA for growing a pancreas in pigs or having pigs make insulin is not the answer.

The reason being is that these processes or so-called treatment will be very expensive and have a wide range of side effects. Even if these methods were possible for man, with his limited understanding of the human body and with his prime motive being maximizing profit, this does nothing for prevention of this disease.

In short, man cannot improve upon Yahweh Elohim’s methodology of treatment, which are plants (Ezk. 47:12, Rev. 22:1-2). The physical body is perfection and man cannot improve upon it.

 Conclusion

The point of this article is to inform the public that the disease of diabetes can be controlled with advice from an informed health care provider. There is no substitute for diet and exercise.

The truth of the matter is that Yahweh’s way is the only way. Since he is the designer of the physical body, he made the food that would sustain the body to operate optimally. It is the plants food that is nontoxic and inexpensive that can be used as prevention and treatment for diabetes. There is no substitute for this treatment that man can devise.

Modern biochemistry research into the chemical compounds in plants verifies that this form of treatment by plants is not quackery but verifies the words of Yahweh that plants are not only food but also medicine for the body (Rev. 22:1-2; Ezk. 47:12).

Clearly, Americans must return to this age-old way of a plant-based diet, not processed and fast foods. Moses lived to be 120 years old with none of the problems of health that plague modern mankind. Failing to follow the diet that Yahweh has designed for the physical body will result in the physical body being plagued by many maladies due the lack of proper nutrition.

Now mankind cannot work out salvation for the soul. Likewise, on a physical level mankind cannot create food that will sustain the body in perfect health. So the bottom line that everyone is responsible for his or her own health and welfare of the body and soul.
